Event detail
The third edition of Erlendur Fashion Week Iceland (EFWI) is scheduled for September 3–6, 2026, in Reykjavík. Founded in 2024 by Erlendur Talent Agency, the event has quickly established itself as a distinctive platform that prioritizes cultural diversity, sustainability, and creative exchange over traditional trade formats .
A Venue Unlike Any Other
What sets EFWI apart is its choice of runway venue: the Whales of Iceland Museum. Life-size whale models serve as the backdrop for the shows, creating an immersive atmosphere that underscores the event’s core themes of fashion, nature, and sustainability. This unconventional setting is a deliberate departure from standard fashion week venues, aiming to create a more experiential and thought-provoking presentation .
Rooted in Diversity and Sustainability
The event was co-founded by three women—Carlotta Tate-Olason, Barbara Nyakinyua, and Bianca Hallveig Sigurðardóttir—with the explicit goal of promoting cultural diversity both in front of and behind the camera. This mission is reflected in its international designer roster and its commitment to sustainable practices. For the 2026 edition, EFWI has also announced a fur-free policy for all participating designers, aligning itself with other major fashion weeks in Copenhagen, London, and New York
