Miss Township South Africa

Miss Township South Africa is a beauty pageant and empowerment programme that was established in December 2019 by former Mrs South Africa Finalist, Koketso Makua. The program was developed after identifying a gap for a formal beauty pageant that is focused on re-shaping the narrative of women who come from the township, not only of their surroundings but of themselves.

"I went into Mrs South Africa one way and came out another way, my wish is to teach others what I learnt so that they too can stand on their own and in turn pass on the baton to those coming after them. We are grooming future leaders" – said Koketso Makua.

We are redefining beauty by reminding women that beauty is within. It is not limited to an external focus, but rather the light that shines within should radiate on the outside. We rest on our pillars of grace, elegance, compassion, boldness and resilience which is what we look for in our Queens.

Miss and Mrs Township South Africa also provides a marketing platform for SMME’s by giving them access to a market they otherwise would not reach. We spend time actively marketing them on our platform and through each contestant, we also avail our models for promotions (subject to condition) and activities that affiliated companies may have. This is available through a very affordable payment plan which makes it accessible for even a start up!

"We truly are changing the face of beauty and challenging stereotypes! We believe that anyone can be great, they just need a little push in the right direction" – exclaimed Koketso.
