Leyla Kashani is the Iranian artist behind her eponymous clothing, jewellery and accessories brand. Leyla was born in Iran and studied fashion in both France and Canada. She divides her time between her Toronto studio and the brand atelier in Tehran. Throughout her many years of travel and fashion industry experience, Leyla built a passion for repurposing antique textiles and accessories. After observing ancient Iranian craft techniques fading into obscurity amongst the trends of mass production, Leyla decided to use her design skills to bring new life to culturally significant art forms. Her brand journey began by showcasing her wearable art creations across Toronto. These fashion installations developed into the brand Leyla Kashani is today.
Leyla Kashani and her namesake brand are dedicated to keeping honoured handcrafting techniques alive through wearable and standout fashion and accessory items. She works to build a tangible bridge between the past, the present and the future.
By respecting the cultural heritage of remote areas in Iran, and creating personal
connections with the local artisans that embroider her creations, Leyla Kashani has become a circularity and slow fashion ambassador.
In 2021, Leyla Keshani was celebrated as one of three sustainable brands from Iran by
Fashion Revolution UK.
