The Latest in Fashion

When Tunisian actress Dorra Zarrouk married Egyptian architect and interior designer Hany Saad on November 2, she turned to Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad to create not one, but two wedding gowns.

For the ceremony, held in El Gouna, Egypt, she wore a form-fitting gown in white lace, and for the wedding party, Murad created a white long-sleeved gown with a voluminous train. Designed to be detachable, the bride later removed the train, leaving her in a fishtail, bead-encrusted gown in delicate white.

Sharing the nuptials on social media, the star posted an image with her new husband, with the caption: “When God brings two people to people together with love, no one can separate them.

Zarrouk is not the first celebrity bride to turn to a regional designer to create her dream wedding gown.

Creatives across the Middle East, and in particular Lebanon, are firm favourites with A-list brides looking to wear something spectacular for her special day.

Adept at cutting to flatter feminine curves, and with a long heritage of intricate handwork, designers from the region are becoming go-tos for brides in search of something amazing.

Everyone from Modern Family star Sofia Vergara, to Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco, Italian fashion blogger Eleonora Carisi and Princess Claire of Luxembourg have chosen regional designers for their big days.
