Agile Media Africa Launches Bold Fashion Week 2026, Marking a New Chapter for Africa

2026, bringing together designers, creatives, media, buyers and fashion enthusiasts for a celebration of contemporary African fashion, craftsmanship and innovation.

 

 

Taking place in Kampala on 19, 21 and 22 August 2026, the three-day event marks a significant milestone for Bold in Africa as the organisation expands its work supporting creative entrepreneurs and showcasing the talent shaping Africa's fashion landscape.

 

Established in 2012, Bold in Africa has evolved from a retail and visibility initiative into a recognised fashion incubator, creating opportunities for emerging labels, artisans and creative businesses. The organization has collaborated with more than 40 designers, artisans and creators from over 10 African countries, reflecting the diversity and growing influence of African fashion.

 

Bold Fashion Week is designed to bring together the different elements that drive the fashion ecosystem, combining runway presentations, industry conversations, networking opportunities and retail experiences that connect creators with audiences and industry partners.

 

“Over the years, we have witnessed the incredible creativity, resilience and innovation within Africa's fashion community,” said Nunu Mugyenyi, Founder of Bold in Africa. “This event represents the next stage of our journey, creating meaningful connections between designers, audiences and the wider fashion community while celebrating the talent shaping African fashion today.”

 

The inaugural runway showcase will feature collections from Axarya, Discreet Street x Local, Good Fibre, Joan Jade, Kifahari, Kwesh, Lamara, Ofumbi, Shurea Yasmin and Yemi Shoyemi, highlighting distinctive approaches to contemporary African style, craftsmanship and storytelling.

 

19 August — Launch Party (Invite Only)

An opening evening bringing together designers, media, partners and industry stakeholders to celebrate the launch of Bold Fashion Week.

 

21 August — Runway Showcase (Ticketed)

A curated runway presentation featuring collections from participating designers and showcasing the creativity shaping contemporary African fashion.

 

22 August — Market Day

A public retail experience where guests can discover, purchase and engage directly with participating brands and their creators.

 

As Bold in Africa enters this new chapter, Bold Fashion Week reflects its continued commitment to supporting creative entrepreneurship and strengthening opportunities within Africa's growing fashion economy.

 

Media accreditation is now open for journalists, photographers and content creators. Applications close on 17 August 2026.
