The provincial capital is set to host the inaugural Pietermaritzburg Fashion Week 2026, a landmark celebration of fashion, culture, and innovation. The launch event will take place today at Edendale Mall from 12pm to 3pm, with free entry for all attendees.
According to Clive Hadebe, organiser of the event, the launch will feature a live fashion show, live entertainment, VIP guest speakers, influencer appearances, media coverage, and giveaways for the audience.
Special Guests and Showcase Line-Up
Special guest appearances will include Sinempilo Ngubane, semi-finalist of Mrs South Africa, and Khanyisile Mncwabe, semi-finalist of Mrs Bald.
A total of six designers—three female and three male—will showcase their collections alongside retail stores from Edendale Mall. The show will also feature 30 models, including child participants.
A Platform for Youth Development
Hadebe said the event aims to highlight youth development within local communities, with a strong focus on sport, arts, and recreation, including modelling, fashion, music, dance, and visual arts.
The initiative is positioned as a platform for emerging creative talent in Pietermaritzburg and is expected to grow into a major annual event on the city's calendar.
Organiser's Excitement
"I'm excited and over the moon for this project," Hadebe said. "It is the first of its kind in Pietermaritzburg.
"I hope we will grow and receive support from the private sector, our local government office, and the Pietermaritzburg community."
