Central College student crowned Student Designer of the Year at Fiji Water Fashion Show

Titilia Grace, a student from Central College, has been crowned Student Designer of the Year at the Fiji Fashion Week Student Designer Show presented by Fiji Water, impressing judges with a collection inspired by nature and the brand's signature product.

Grace, who hails from Tailevu, admitted she never expected to win the top award and was visibly shocked when her name was announced on stage.

Overcoming Financial Hurdles
Speaking to fijivillage News following the event, Grace revealed that one of her biggest challenges was securing the funds to purchase materials for her designs. She expressed deep gratitude to those who supported and sponsored her journey, acknowledging that their assistance made her participation possible.

'Blooming Serenity': A Collection Inspired by Nature
Grace's winning collection, titled Floral Hazel, carried the theme Blooming Serenity and drew inspiration from the natural world and the colour green. One design, she noted, was specifically inspired by Fiji Water.

She offered a message to young Fijians aspiring to careers in fashion design: "Never give up and follow your passion."

A Platform for Emerging Talent
The Fiji Water Student Fashion Designer Show was held at the Vodafone Arena, where 15 student designers showcased their original creations on the runway.

Dudley High School finished as first runner-up, while Natabua High School was named second runner-up.

Industry Recognition and Future Support
Ellen Whippy-Knight, Managing Director of Fiji Fashion Week, thanked Fiji Water for sponsoring the event and for committing its support to the student designer programme for the next three years. The partnership, she noted, will provide vital continuity for nurturing young design talent in Fiji.

The show also recognised outstanding modelling talent. Samuel Waqaniburotukula of Marist Brothers High School won Best Male Model, while Adi Luse Naivalu of Natabua High School took out the Best Female Model award.
