Alice Jane Chang presents A-JANE for the Global Fashion Collective Showcase at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo.

About the Designer
Alice Jane Chang transitioned from studying Neue Musik (New Music) composition in Germany to becoming a self-taught fashion designer, merging her dual passions by launching her avant-garde label A-JANE in 2018 as a “fashion composer.” Her designs translate experimental sound concepts—such as distortion, dissonance, and atonality—into fashion through avant-garde silhouettes, structural elements like 3D plasma waves, and a signature monochromatic palette of black, white, and silver, creating wearable art that challenges sensory perception. She aims to blur the boundaries between fashion, art, and music through projects such as immersive installations, and continues to explore themes of abstraction and cultural identity—advocating for the relevance of avant-garde fashion despite the challenges within the industry.
About the Collection
Collection Name: KLANGKANTE SS’26 (Sound Edge)
Inspiration:
A-JANE’s SS26 collection KLANGKANTE draws deep inspiration from Helmut Lachenmann’s Pression, translating sonic experimentation into sharp, structured silhouettes. Each piece echoes the raw physicality of sound through edge-focused construction, layered wave-like forms, and a deliberate tension between 2D flatness and 3D sculptural volume. Dominated by a black-and-white palette, the collection embraces bold accents and artistic distortion, creating wearable sound sculptures that speak to individual strength and avant-garde clarity.
KLANGKANTE is not just fashion, it’s an audible gesture in visual form.
