German-Polish fashion designer Dawid Tomaszewski has donated an extensive collection of 53 remarkable outfits to the Kunstgewerbemuseum (Museum of Decorative Arts) ? Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. A curated selection of these "signature pieces" is on display at the Berlin Kulturforum museum until late November 2023.
Tomaszewski’s donation includes 53 complete ensembles showcased on runways over the past 14 years, along with numerous accessories from collaborations such as shoes, bags, and hats. This collection offers a glimpse into the designer’s evolution over the last 15 years, featuring pieces from his early days as a fashion design student, his early designs under his own label, and his more recent collections presented at Berlin Fashion Week.
A special selection of five signature pieces by Tomaszewski will be on display at the entrance to the Kunstgewerbemuseum until November 2023, with plans for a major monographic exhibition in 2024.
About the Designer Dawid Tomaszewski
The Berlin-based designer founded his label in 2009 after honing his skills with renowned brands like Sonia Rykiel in Paris and Comme des Garçons in Tokyo. His creations are characterized by a diverse range of designs and materials, including intricately embroidered dresses, tailored pantsuits, dramatic draped evening gowns, and striking color and material combinations.
