After 57 years, Cuba is making a triumphant return to the Miss Universe pageant with the newly crowned Miss Universe Cuba 2024, Marianela Ancheta.
The 31-year-old entrepreneur representing the Central Region emerged victorious over 23 other contestants in the national competition held on Thursday, September 26, in Miami, Florida. She also received the Miss Photogenic award.
Alina Robert and Maylin Hernández were named the first and second runners-up, respectively.
"Today has been a day filled with emotion and gratitude as I engage with the media and share this achievement with all of you. I lack the words to express my thanks for the support and love you have shown me from the very beginning," said the new Miss Universe Cuba.
"This victory is not just mine; it belongs to every Cuban who dreams, fights, and never gives up, as well as to all my supporters. Let’s go all out for Miss Universe!" she added.
Marianela will now prepare to represent Cuba at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant in Mexico this November.
Cuba’s last participation in the Miss Universe competition was in 1967. This year’s Miss Universe Cuba pageant was organized under the new national director, Prince Julio Cesar.
