Sofia Labus from Cork Crowned Miss Universe Ireland 2024

Sofia Labus triumphed over 26 other contestants to be crowned Miss Universe Ireland 2024 on Friday, September 20, at the Fairways Hotel in Dundalk. The 21-year-old social justice advocate and entrepreneur from Montenotti, Cork, had previously competed last year, where she finished as second runner-up.

Succeeding last year’s winner, Aishah Akorede from County Kildare, Sofia will now represent Ireland at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant in Mexico this November.

Caoimhe Kenny from County Donegal and Annie O'Dea from Galway were named first and second runners-up, respectively.

Born in Ireland to Serbian immigrant parents, the new Miss Universe Ireland holds a Level 5 qualification in psychology and social studies and is pursuing criminology at University College Cork (UCC). As part of the first generation of Irish-Serbs, Sofia is passionate about advocating for educational opportunities for immigrants and aims to use her degree to champion the rights and education of those seeking a better life.

Her journey now continues to the 73rd Miss Universe.
