Design meets innovation - on 27th January, the winning products & capsule collections of the GreenProduct Award Fashion in the subcategories of clothing, accessories & shoes were honoured at Neonytin Düsseldorf.
The winners included trippen with the T-project, in which the remnants of their own prototypes are used, NoWa with elegant jewelry made from precious metals from old telephones, Pure Waste textiles with their 100% recycled range, Crimagno with the Kobi shoe made from hemp and coconut fibres.
"The works of the winners show what is already possible today and provide inspiration for how the industry could implement sustainable fashion today." Nils Bader, initiator of the Green Product Awards.
The winners from Germany, the Netherlands, Finland and Switzerland were selected by the jury, consisting of Belvis Soler from Luxiders, Rosan van Boven - Co-Founder Fabriek Fris & Co-Founder Anderlus, Sebastian Thies - CEO nat-2TM & thies, Petra Schmatz - Editor-in-Chief Sous & green lifestyle and Ulrike Kähler - Managing Director - Igedo Exhibitions.
In a public vote, 10,000 votes were cast. The most voted concept was Waste me not, the most popular product was a belt made from tea production leftovers.
In addition to the awards, a fashion line was developed with students from Macromedia University of Applied Sciences Berlin using deadstock materials, materials made from coffee sacks from Sylvia Calvo Barcelona and the vegan leather alternative HyphaLiteTM TC from ISA Next-Gen Materials. The project focused on extending the life cycle by flexibly adapting the garments for different occasions.
We would be delighted if you would report on the winners to increase the impact of these pioneering projects for more sustainable fashion. Pictures of the award ceremony and the exhibition will be available here from 30th January here.
