Self-proclaimed as Bombshell Grenade, Bwalya Sophia Chibesakunda, 28, has injected a new wave of freshness into the industry, captivating its attention. Her songs are true masterpieces and undeniable chart-toppers, rightfully claiming their place at the top.
DFashionMagazine had the privilege of delving into her perspectives on fashion, music, and Zambian culture.
DFM: How is your journey as Zambian rappers so far?
Bombshell: My journey as a Zambian rapper has been transformative and humbling. Each day presents new opportunities and challenges that drive my creativity and push me to be a better artist. I'm privileged to represent Zambia on the global stage, and it's been amazing to see our music resonate with people across the world.
DFM: you are internationally recoganised singer. How are you managing your family life out of it?
Bombshell: As an international artist, it can be tough to balance personal and professional life. But my family is my rock, and we've found ways to make it work. I prioritize time with them whenever I can, and their understanding and support help me navigate the challenges that come my way.
DFM: which is your next upcoming album? Any thing you want to share about that?
Bombshell: I'm working on my next album, "Crown," with my great team at Zalee Art, who are managing the project and also serving as my publisher. It's a project I'm truly excited to share with the world. I can't share a lot right now, I can share that it's a unique fusion of traditional and contemporary sounds that reflect both my Zambian heritage and my personal evolution as an artist. It's a project I'm truly excited to share with the world.
DFM: Any suggestions to the young rappers of Africa?
Bombshell: For young African rappers, my advice would be to be bold, authentic, and ambitious. Your unique background and perspective are your biggest assets. Use them to create music that reflects your truth.
DFM: Any other type of music you like besides rap music?
Bombshell: Apart from rap, I also enjoy traditional Zambian music. It keeps me connected to my roots and offers a rich source of inspiration for my work.
DFM: Which is your favourite perfume brand?
Bombshell: In terms of fragrance, I've been working on my own perfume brand that's launching soon. I can't wait to share this new venture with all of you.
DFM: Which is your Fashion choice? What kind of outfit you like the most?
Bombshell: When it comes to fashion, I love wearing long dresses that make me feel like Mfumu Kadzi (a Queen). These dresses fit well with my brand and give me a sense of confidence and strength. I usually wear clothes from my own brand because they reflect my personal style and beliefs.
DFM: Who is your favorite fashion designer in Zambia?
Bombshell: In Zambia, Dotty by Donalia is my favorite designer, and I also have my own brand, Mfumu Kadzi. I really appreciate how they combine traditional and modern styles. This blend of old and new is something I resonate with, and it's also a technique I endeavor to incorporate in my own art.
